Citrus = Winter Joy
Recipes to cure the lousy winter blues!
I feel like citrus is the reason, we are able to get through the winter - a gift from the world for immunity and a cure for that lousy winter blues! Whether you are making a big cup of freshly squeezed OJ to have along side a nutritious breakfast, or blending some oranges to cook down into a jam to be used in my Orange Rolls… I feel like there is one universal truth - citrus = joy.
Today I wanted to share my Orange Rolls recipe with you all - a pastry that to it’s core tastes like an orange picked off the tree. I am very excited for you all to make this recipe and just wanted to pass along a few important tips when making these cuties:
Blend, don’t cook chop the orange. In order to hit the right consistency and for the jam to become homogenous - blend the oranges (roughly chopped with skin on).
Don’t overcook the jam! If you over cook the jam, you will be left with a cooked orange juice taste - and that is not what you want. You want the sugar to simple candy the oranges. At that point, shut off the heat and let it cool.
Wait before you glaze! Wait 10 minutes after pulling the buns out of the oven before you glaze these gorgeous gals. If not, your glaze will become very oozy, very sloppy, and may even separate. Just be patient. It is well worth the wait.
Wait! Do you have any more citrus recipes for us Ben & Zikki?
Of course. ;)

Til next time cuties!
Love, Ben & Zikki
