Game Day Snacks!

Mediterranean Board, Chicken Shwarma Sliders, & Buffalo Pizza Pita

🪩 DISCLAIMER: We may not know anything about foodball, but we do know a thing or two about hosting the ultimate PARTAY!

The big game is this Sunday, and Zikki and I have got you covered with a few awesome recipes to set the perfect the vibe for your friends while watching the game (…and waiting for the half time show).

We’ve got a Medittarean Board, built for the health-conscious veggie lovin crowd (my crowd), and Chicken Shwarma Sliders for the classic Super Bowl dish homies (also my crowd😘).

Today: Game Day TREATs!

For the second dish, we have a very special guest - shawarma in a can. Yes, you heard me right here, shawarma in a can. This way to make shawarma is not just delicious but also super impressive and requires no special equipment and no special tools. All you need is a 16 oz/500 gr can, open from both sides, wrap with aluminum foil on one side, and stuff the can with spiced chicken and onions. Slowly bake it in the oven, remove from the pan, and slice your shawarma stick like a pro!

And what do we do with the shawarma, you ask? Making the Super Bowl game day classic dish: Sliders! I made challah buns and baked them in a squared pan, so when they all get together into one pan (divided into little buns). I opened the bun pan in half, spread tahini sauce, added sliced smoky shawarma, herby slaw, pickles, and pickled onions. It was beyond what I expected; my friends and I finished it in a matter of 5 minutes, no kidding!

Let’s talk fundamentals…you don’t need much but you do need the right things…(your favorite things).

Choose…

  • Two Dips: (they can also be store bought 😉)

  • A Bread:

  • A Selection of Seasonal Veggies: beets, radishes, celery, carrots, baby tomatoes and cucumbers

    • ☝🏼PRO TIP: Zikki likes to put the thinnly mandolin-ed veggies in iced water until they are ready to be served, and they really get extra crispy!

  • Tangy Things: (atleast 3) olives, caper berries, marinated artichokes, grape leaves, and a marinated feta!

  • Something with a Crunch: pistachios, hazelnuts, almonds, or crackers.

    • ☝🏼PRO TIP: Buy raw nuts instead of the toasted ones, and microwave 1 cup on a flat plate for 1 ½ minutes. Serve once cooled. (Will add a crazy beautiful aroma to your board and home.)

This Buffalo Pizza Pita takes a classic to a whole new level! Buffalo chicken, blue cheese, julienned carrots and celery all served on a glorious half pita!

Have an incredible game day gingis!
