Let's Make Brunch!

Sweet & Savory Dutch Pancakes

Welcome to the Dutch Pancake Brunch Party, where both sweet and savory enthusiasts are invited!

This week, my baby brother visited us in NYC, and we couldn't be happier to have him. Meet Yuval— an extremely talented human being, but when it comes to cooking, he couldn't care less. This visit, I wanted to film a recipe with him that's not only absolutely delicious but also incredibly easy, leaving him with no excuse to not make it at home.

When I think about an easy dish for anyone to make (with little to no cooking skills) it's always the Dutch pancake. Unlike most pancakes, Dutch pancakes are baked in the oven, thicker than your regular pancake, providing the perfect texture to hold any topping. With no leavening agent, the magic happens when the cold batter hits the hot cast iron pan preheated in the oven. It's the ultimate brunch companion for weekends with friends and family. Plus, if it's over, make a new batch right away—takes seconds!

Dutch pancakes can be sweet or savory. Here, we have two examples for you: a savory one with smoked wild salmon, sour cream, chives, and red onion (NY style), and a sweet one with cranberry sumac sauce and yogurt. Feel free to top it with anything you like, but be sure to share your creation with us, okay? 😉

Today: Dutch Pancakes!

The five minute brunch dish you didn’t know you needed.

I promise, you TOO can do this.

  1. Core ingredients: eggs, milk, and flour. Add any seasoning to take it in any direction—sugar, cinnamon powder, nutmeg, vanilla, orange blossom for sweet notes; chopped herbs, grated garlic, grated cheese, black pepper for a savory version.

  2. Best cooked in a cast iron pan. It holds heat properly, ensuring the cold batter hits the pan right away, causing it to rise.

  3. 🚨 Crucial!!: Properly preheat your pan. Place it in the oven while you measure and work on the batter. Enjoy your Dutch pancake adventure!
