Happy YASSSletter Thursday Gingis!
We are officially in SUMMER and you know what that means! HOT DAYS. We’ve been in Israel for almost three weeks now and let me tell you - the days are capital HOT HOT HOT. The only thing cooling us down are daily trips to the pool, ice cream, and delightful iced beverages.
So without further ado: Today’s Agenda!
📜 History & Origin:🍹Gazoz & Cafe Levinsky 41

History & Origin: Gazoz & Cafe Levinsky 41
Gazoz, the beloved Israeli carbonated soft drink, traces its roots back to the early 20th century when Eastern European Jewish immigrants brought their homemade flavored syrups to the shores of Israel. The concoction quickly gained popularity, evolving into a uniquely Israeli beverage known as gazoz. However, as time passed, commercial sodas overshadowed gazoz. Yet, in recent years, a renaissance has unfolded, with artisanal gazoz makers reviving the craft, like the King of the craft - Benny Briga, from Cafe Levinsky 41. Benny & other modern gazoz creators blend natural ingredients, local fruits, and herbs to concoct tantalizing syrups that captivate the taste buds. Benny understood that people coming to Levinsky Market in Tel Aviv were looking for Gazoz. He took it upon himself to rebuild this community. Benny makes all his own syrups from the season’s best finds and gathers all of his garnishes from his rooftop garden in Tel Aviv.
Long story short? If you find yourself in Tel Aviv - make sure to stop at Cafe Levinsky 41 to say hello to Benny himself! He is there everyday and he is even more of a legend in person!
Stone Fruit Summer Gazoz
Refreshing, bright, tangy, and absolutely your new summer obsession!
Limonana (Israeli Mint Lemonade Slushy)
As many of you may know the heat here in Israel is really something during the summer time! Other than water as the source of hydration - it is an absolute must to sit down once a day at a cafe and enjoy a frosted glass of Limo-nana. This mint lemonade slushy, for lack of better words, is pure satiation in brutally hot times. This drink is a MUST on any summer menu. It is the perfect drink to slurp by the pool before a meal fresh off the grill. Note. This is a non-alcoholic beverage but can be made with Arak for a groovy kick!
